About Dano and his machines
- I began tattooing in 1974 and for many years I did the upkeep on my personal machines as well as the other artists I worked with. In 2006 I began making handmade machines and I really fell in love with the fabricating portion of my craft.
- In 2008 I wrote and published my first book "The Elusive Electromagnet: A Guide To Building And Tuning Professional Tattoo Machines". The book is only available directly from me and you must be a licensed tattooer to purchase it as is the same with my machines. PROS ONLY!!! Since then I've shipped the book to every state in the USA and 43 different countries!
- In 2013 myself and 5 other machine builders in the world were nominated to be part of the very first ever International Tattoo Machine Builders Competition sponsored by Tattoo Master Magazine and Skin Deep in England. One of the 6 instantly backed out after he saw who he was competing with which left 5 of us. We all built machines, sent them to England where a few prominent tattooers actually used the machines to work with. They were then judged on how well they were constructed, how cool they looked and how they performed. I'm very honored to say that I won! The winner got all the other entered machines, a trophy and a 10 page spread in Tattoo Master. I flew to Europe for the very first time to receive the award at the Tattoo Jam Tattoo Convention in Doncaster, England. See the pics below.
- I've continued to build machines since then building over 1000 handmade machines for top artists all over the world. It's always an honor and privilege to see the amazing work they do with tools I've made.
